The Youth Entrepreneurship Facility (YEF) is a partnership between the Africa Commission, the Youth Employment Network (YEN), and the International Labour Organization (ILO) and is implemented through its head office at the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and through offices in Kenya and Uganda. The Unleashing African Entrepreneurship initiative enables young men and women to turn their energy and ideas into business opportunities contributing to the creation of decent work for young Africans, both as a means of self-employment and as job creation for others.
The initiative has six strategic components to unleash the ideas of existing and emerging entrepreneurs. The six components aim at
- Fostering a culture of entrepreneurship among young people,
- Introducing entrepreneurship education in schools,
- Making sure that potential and existing young entrepreneurship have access to business development services,
- Enabling access to finance for young entrepreneurs,
- Strengthening youth-led organizations through a youth-to-youth fund, and
- Promoting evidence-based advocacy to better understand what works in youth entrepreneurship development.
